Conservation

Alongside farming our ongoing conservation work aims to enhance the environment and promote and preserve biodiversity. We have a passion to leave a better landscape for future generations by protecting our ‘natural environment’.

Our projects

Countryside stewardship

Our organic farming practices deliver a broad range of environmental benefits. We aim to protect and enhance the natural environment, in particular the diversity of wildlife and water quality. We continue to develop practices to become carbon neutral and help climate change mitigation.

As we continue to restore habitats by providing food and nesting places for birds and create areas for flowering plants, both nature and wildlife benefits. We are trying to provide the right environments for wild pollinators. This is also helpful for creating natural predators for insects we don’t want eating our crops, helping us to farm to organic principles.

Biodiversity monitoring

We do a monthly bird count, usually on a Saturday morning to check what species and number of birds are on the farm. As the data builds up, we can monitor changes over time. Last year we did a hedgehog survey too. We would welcome help with monitoring other species of flora, fauna and mushrooms.

Research projects

We welcome university departments and students to carry out research projects on the land. We have worked with the University of Reading and the University of Nottingham.
